With less than a week to go – and no place on the map to move to yet, my stress levels are definitely the highest – I think – than they have ever been in my life before.
Being our friends – you surely know that we are busy moving apartments. This has of course taken us away from our work, as we spend time packing, finding a place, hiring movers, closing off our current lease, dealing with our tenants coming through to the apartments at various times of the day and so on. Those who have moved once, well know the process. But moving as many times as we have, has added to our burden.
Flight or Fright Response – we’ve all heard about it. We’ve all experienced it. It’s what happens when a threatening situation occurs. There are a few ways one can handle such a situation. One can confront the attack if one is prepared well enough. One can run for one’s life! One can simply freeze!
Pesach… A time for freedom. One can, of course, ask – “from what?” We sit at the table and we speak about coming out of the Land of Egypt where we were slaves. Now, however, we are free! Yet so much of our actions are lip-service. We say the same things again and again. So often, however, we don’t actually hear what we are saying. Sometimes, it takes just looking at our lives to realise how far off we are from what we thought – or what we say!
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe…
We probably all know that nursery rhyme – by heart! It was a dreadful story – strangely like many other nursery rhymes we are taught. One wonders about the real value of such things taught to young children – who are destined to lead the world in the future generation…
Woooo… Woooo… Wooooo… A sound we know – which means “URGENT”!

Yesterday, I was sitting with my teacher as he explained to me some vital points that would assist me to write better – and hopefully, earn some sort of proper living if I get my writing right!
Yesterday was simply another draining day. Running backwards and forwards for a number of things. When does it end? We don’t have a car and the boxes you see in the picture are collected from the store close to 1 kilometre away and then carried by hand home. It’s exhausting! The only other choice is to come up with an additional 4000-5000 Shekels and have the movers bring their own boxes and pack our items up for us!
The picture is by no means of me… but it certainly tells the story well enough. Ambivalence… that feeling of complete conflict and not knowing which direction to take. Some may call it cognitive dissonance. You know one way is better, but you can’t take it… or perhaps you actually want to do it, but you can’t because there’s just too much else going on…
That feeling… when you look around you and consider – the seventh move in just 11 years. A library of one’s personal books purchased over a period of 30 years. Books worth far more than their dollar value. Books – many of which are simply unobtainable. Some out of print. Others – practically collector’s items for those who knew to buy them at the time. They’re all used at some time. That has been most of my life – study and teaching. I can’t imagine giving them up now. I had worked so hard to be able to get them.
